Dear WCCers,

Steve asked me to update you with the latest. It has been an intense week with lots of sorrow and amazing outpouring of support and sympathy. Steve has been meeting with reporters, fire and police officials, insurance and insurance related people, parishioners and community people. He has been inundated with phone calls and emails. Paula Bundy is coming in the days following to help Steve respond to all the communication that needs to be responded to. Please be patient if you are trying to reach him and his response is not immediate. He and we (Deacons) want all of your ideas and offerings and needs to be met and that will take time. If a deacon might be able to respond to your concern please avail yourself of us.

My understanding is the fire "marshalls" have concluded that the fire was accidental and they are looking at the heating for the cause.

The rebuilding fund is up and running and can be accessed at any branch of the Florence Savings Bank The fund is known as the West Cummington Church Rebuilding Fund. Shortly we will also have a way to donate direct from the website.

We of course will rebuild and shortly a rebuilding committee will be formed from the group of those who would like to be a part. The committee will not include everyone as that would be too large a committee but this committee's first task will be to gather all of our ideas wishes hope concerns etc and turn those into a practical plan.

The Parish House will continue to function as a Parish House for 6 and 1/2 days a week and will be our church the remaining 1/2 day. The Sherpas have already begun meeting to facilitate that. Before Sunday mornings
1 chair will be set up in each row of chairs. When you arrive for the service please take a chair from the stack and use it for your place to sit. At the end of the service please return the chair to the stack. This is the plan for now lets see how it works.

Sunday school will be held at the Remington Lodge. Thank you Cathy and Carlene and Aurora.

Steve is not working at the store for the next few Wednesdays and Beth Korn has kindly agreed to substitute for him.

In appreciation for all that WCC is and will be

Coffee Hour:
Every Wednesday Morning from 9-11 there is a gathering at the Parish House in West Cummington (27 West Main Street) for coffee, snacks, and conversation. It is a good opportunity to meet other people, members of our church and, our minister. All are welcome, drop in anytime.

Fishing Poles and Gear Needed

Calvin Joppru is looking for donations of fishing poles and gear.  He is working with in need kids in Pittsfield to give them the experience of getting out into the outdoors to fish. All fishing gear is welcome -- it doesn't have to be fancy.  Also, anyone interested in donating time to go fishing with the kids is welcome as well.  The goal is to get the kids outdoors and experience something they haven't done before.
See Calvin at church or call him at 413-655-9905

WCCC AND EMAIL
Two important efforts are underway to bring our congregation into the wireless age.
  • Polly Ryan-Lane is working at perfecting our own WCCC Web Page. This will enable us to post Steve’s and lay sermons each week, copies of Farther Along and other information of interest.
  • Joy Chipman and John Perkins are perfecting an email list for WCCC-ers so they can receive church notices that way. In addition we hope to send Father Along and other publications via email to as many people as we can in order to save publication costs.  Please contact .... if you would like to be included in this email list.
